I say MIA because I have definitely. I been busy creating just not selling. I have been sewing, cooking, painting, doing needlepoint, crochet, and embroidery.

I recently rediscovered sewing. I can't explain the rush I get when I go to a fabric store. It's almost like a drug. The smell of the fabric, the textures, the patterns and yes the sales! There is just something addicting about finding the perfect fabric for that new pattern (or concept in my head) and actually executing it. The rush of sitting behind the sewing machine and feeling it stitch each little stitch. The knowledge that a little bit of me is going into each piece I create.

I have been on a fleece kick lately. I have been working on lined dresses, longies/pants, mittens and hats. I will post pics soon.

Check out my new blog www.socialcook.blogspot.comLittle Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-75234550603568910382009-06-04T08:21:00.001-07:002009-06-04T08:21:10.144-07:00Destash
I started my 'spring cleaning' only to discover I had much more than clutter that needed to go! I didn't realize how much stash I had! Not to mention the boxes of inventory. Needless to say I am starting to understand hubby's grumpy attitude about buying more boutique things.

I decided it is definately time to declutter and destash the shop. To that end I am having a 50% off sale on all instock items and supplies. Headbands, bottlecaps, tulle, tutus, bows, outfits, flip flops etc. I will be adding more as I come across it.

If we don't stand for God, Jesus and all he has done in our lives there will be no one to stand for us on the day of judgment.

God has brought me through many trials. All of which were self imposed by neglecting him and choosing my own path instead of the one he has so wisely chosen for me. His way would have been so much easier!

Blessings to all on this glorious day!Little Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-78894726688995913172009-05-27T06:37:00.000-07:002009-05-27T07:01:12.099-07:00Wordless Wednesday<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGrjSTghEQ840cw7illDELmBHEVByikIRRdjhwKSJmLWvitjVnJtlDomZgSAkv0iyrrjtXV71TmtpEaJ5j-KSbOGsFwCg3ZAUrXCWXz-tdNqi_Mb9fG-jPxvS43sE3B22FMhPsQHfg9oZ1/s320/IMG_4320.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340503221657949730" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 83px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2ud9fiT7zl3lo9u8D6FhmVEeHoDD4Mp5URKtTOCcjyRl1qbsQ8XnCcG1KHTsZH7mfDCtOARDhr3y9gTrw39P9EgctPri61_nN-wkSj6yqp30h8YXWC9Wc7Y5GDgyn9YjeHEFm6CJjqT51/s320/1000IMG_4326.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340498878439448962" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 262px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD6NCdtgVN0gvW53Fz2_8NM7nCXt_MkVQYIdjFH-GeXmRazTQadvOM5v_ymkf4Ml6KhDZ3DLPznGY_3RwtGAXI2GzVNqSbGw7o_SQIQrnKhAuopONx3qg_ziQaNbssbIKUe7ScCn8n48-e/s320/pink+lemonade1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340498491869824098" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjih7WspGmbETurtQqb8MONvfUnnDD3WWcXCkzbLAsr5QXTyez6dcpQNs8dkL3zmiuWtdb1oucC7PsCiJRM2OkgeVYDtvThyphenhyphene_PwO3nNHkPjTp11LoZ6AoZsPNGexUkC53dyDmQ5-PNmVV2/s320/frog+overalls+front.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340497900117454930" />Little Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-48213037734381478272009-05-22T06:14:00.000-07:002009-05-22T08:02:42.544-07:00Amazing Book FindUncle TM's Advice to the Forlorn and Desperate by TM Sharp

An introduction:

Does your life seem to be without hope and direction? Does your butter land with the butter side down? Then you need the comprehensive and compassionate advice of Uncle TM.

Often times it is assumed that the common man is consumed with all the major problems of the world, but in reality the problems that we all have are fairly common when they are examined are quite humorous. Likewise it seems we can make a problem out of just about anything. Consequently, the solution should be equal to the magnitude of the problem.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP8lbwCjwPV-pUcc2qO5TMPC3m5U1jrQNu0X0aCILYEsa6tdRUTGqLhYCgWw4orXDQMPzTnmY8I6f2evlOZcAXXlfpoEKV9tKVeFobJ9O_VZ26ByHFJAyOWCUSlGr04O0rl6QDufrpRGdJ/s320/Uncle+TM+Writing.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5338653469002547218" />

I love advice columns. Mostly because I can laugh at other people and not feel so silly with my own issues. So this book was right up there with my sense of humor. Uncle Tm's Advice to the Forlorn and Desperate by TM Sharp is hilarious. I was able to snag an interview with him and thought I would share it with you guys.

What inspired this book?

The inspiration actually goes back to my teenage years when I would always turn to the advice columns in the newspaper and read the kinds of questions that Ann Landers and Abigail Van Buren answered. While I know they probably published the sanest ones, I could only imagine what crossed their desks. This coupled with my life in business and the almost unbelievable encounters provided me with a bank of “problems”. Finally, I absolutely love to twist words so that they take on a new life and meaning. Maybe I should have considered politics.

Why be and author?

Writing is like taking a trip into another reality. I can become the character that I am writing about and view the world from a completely different perspective.

What is your favorite color?
Blue.

What or who brings you the greatest joy in your life?

The greatest joy in my life is my faith in Jesus Christ. As a writer you prefer that people do not jump to the last chapter to find out how the story ends but I think that God wants you to know how it all comes together and how you fit into that plan. While I think that answers the what and who, I also have to say that my wife Nikki runs a close second in the greatest joy category. Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth would be my sons, their wives and the grandchildren.

To purchase a copy of this book, learn more about or contact TM Sharp go to his website www.sharpTM.com.

Be on the lookout for his new book "Been There Done That" which is a series of stories about his experience in the real estate business.
Little Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-72772223437812660812009-04-17T13:52:00.001-07:002009-04-17T13:52:00.794-07:00Pasta Salad
It's that time of year again to begin thinking about cookouts and family reunions. This is a family favorite of mine. This is a recipe that my vegan inlaws went nuts over and the kids all loved as well. FYI it is 6pts a serving for weight watchers.

16oz tricolord rotini

2 cans sliced olives

2c grape tomatoes halved

1 English cucumber sliced into quarters

1 small purple onion chopped

1 medium bottle zesty italian salad dressing.

1 can kidney beans drained and rinsed

I put all my veggies together the night before and marinate in the salad dressing. The next morning I cook the pasta al dente and rinse with cold water before adding to the veggie mixture. Keep it refridgerated until ready to serve.
Little Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-9044501633226681372009-04-09T21:43:00.001-07:002009-04-09T21:43:29.272-07:00Visions of the past
Lately I have been helping my mom clean out her home and garage. At first it was strictly to get her to hush, but then I started realizing how much time I was spending with her. I also noticed how much time my daughter was spending with her. The more I helped her the more I realized how much this time meant to all of us. Which got me to thinking about my grandma who passed in '98.

We found some awesome things from my grandmothers estate while sifting through my mom's stuff. From recipes to baby layets to embroidery pieces she never finished. It was all I could do to not cry looking at her beautiful work and missing her. She taught me all I know. She was the first person to tell me that handmade meant made with love. From my first embroidery stitch at 6 to the final quilt we made when I was 22 I enjoyed her teachings and special time spent with her.

Now my mom is teaching my daughter how to do all the fun stuff my grandmothers get to teach. My daughter can already tell you the difference in homemade cookies, break and bake and store bought cookies. At 2 that's a feat.

Keep all your memories alive in your work. Pass your knowledge to others. Make the handmade pledge to send your love to others.

I feel like I am burning at both ends. Probably because I am, but what mom isn't?

I have been helping my mom get ready for a garage sale 10 years overdue. We found some amazing vintage fabric, lace and buttons. We also had our own Pot of Gold finds too. Mine was my grandmother's recipe box and her high school diploma from 1931. My mom's was her baby spoon and layet. She has never seen it so that was really cool to witness. We found lots of family heirlooms hidden in my grandmother's belongings that were just put away when she passed in 1998.

My grandmother was definately one amazing woman. She is the person who taught me to crochet, embroider, quilt and felt. The last piece we worked on together was a twin comforter and valance I still have. She taught me that handmade means love.

I have been working on some new items for the shop all week. Flip flops, socks, hair accessories and upcycled creations. The rest of the sock line should be stocked by the end of next week. Be on the lookout for some great vintage lace, fabric and buttons in the next week as well.

I am extending the penny shipping on flip flops from http://www.littlelovlies.etsy.com/ for the month of April. It has been going well and I am still adding new color combinations. They should be up this weekend. Then I am off to start headbands and bottlecaps.

I also opened a new shop on Hyena Cart. www.hyenacart.com/littlelovlies. I am offering free shipping on all orders over $25. FSCF is the checkout code use in order to receive that promotion. I have the socks and flip flops up the cart already. I am excited to get the cart going full force.

The kiddos are awesome as always. Abbie has decided that at 2 she knows everything and I am stupid. Everything is a drama convention and worthy of Oscars. Her screaming, I mean singing, she thinks is worthy of Tony's and we think needs earplugs. We just smile and say good job anyway. Gabe is now 16lbs and teething. Which is no fun when nursing, but we'll get through it. I almost have him sleeping in a bed instead of his swing. Wish us luck.

Sending love and prayers your way,
CarrieLittle Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-67600363359140712062009-03-11T06:21:00.000-07:002009-03-28T22:41:07.206-07:00Back to BasicsHi all! Sorry it's been so long since I blogged last. A lot has happened since then.

The most exciting of which is my beautiful boy was born. He was five weeks early, spent a week in the hospital, but is doing great now. You would never know he had been a preemie. At fourteen weeks he weighs fourteen pounds!

Abbie still doesn't like having a sibling, but I figure she will get over it in time. At least she isn't yelling at everyone to put him down anymore. That only happens when Daddy holds Gabe. Currently only thing she detests more than sharing Daddy with Gabe is the potty. This child has absolutely zero interest in the potty. Me being the control freak that I am called the ped and asked if this is normal. She said not to worry until Abbie is actually 3 (she's 2 1/2) and then start over again. We are gearing up for that too.

As of the end of March we will have less than $5000 in debt!! We have worked so hard and come so far in the last two years. We finally sat down and figured out how much we have paid off and settled. We were impressed. By selling our house to pay the IRS, selling the cars and paying cash for a van, setteling 2 credit cards and selling off everything we don't need or use we have paid off $214,000 in 2 years!! To that end we are moving in with my mom so we will be ready to buy a house next year.

Little Lovlies is growing leaps and bounds.

1. I have expanded my flip flop line and am currently running a penny shipping special. If you follow my blog, comment and get an additional $3 off.

2. I have discovered I love to sew! So I have added a children's clothing line. Some of it is unique designs and some of it is upcycled designs. I will be adding boys clothes soon.

3. Gearing up for the big move I am clearing out my craft room and am adding destash as I can. I still have to go through my fabrics.

I hope this finds everyone in good health, great spirits and having lots of sales for themselves!Little Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-76496026777383100262008-10-18T08:59:00.000-07:002008-10-18T09:10:59.836-07:00New LinesI had no idea how difficult being pregnant, having a two year old running around and trying to run a business would be. It is difficult but not impossible. I managed to add three new lines to my boutique this week. I am still working on getting everything pictured and posted, but I am very excited.

What three new lines you ask???

Swaddle Blankets
I LOVE this blanket!!! It is great for swaddling, nap time, strollers, carseats, and more. It is much bigger than the typical receiving blanket found in stores. At approximately 41”x41” this larger size allows them to be used as your baby gets older.

Burp Clothes
Burp clothes are a great way to express your personal style. Not only are they great for burping baby but for cleaning up spit, spills and dribbles as well. These are more absorbent than a typical store bought burp cloth and much more unique.

Cloth wipes/washcloths
Clean your baby's delicate skin with handmade wipes. When your little one has diaper rash these are a perfect alternative to a store bought chemical wipe. Cloth wipes are not only financially friendly but environmentally friendly as well. You get to reduce waste, and save money at the same time. You also control how much and what type of soap goes on your little one’s skin.

So in between trips to Labor & Delivery, toddler tantrums and general mommy and wife stuff I am definitely enjoying the relaxation of creating. I hope you are too.Little Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795699275690348042.post-88873304994831029002008-10-10T13:35:00.001-07:002009-05-14T21:27:41.412-07:00Hi There!!My name is Carrie. I am a Christian SAHM with a beautiful three year old daughter and a bouncing baby boy. I have an incredible husband, David. He works extremely hard so I can be the mom I have always wanted to be.

About two years ago he lost a major portion of our income and I had already quit my outside job. After racking my brains and heart about what to do I decided that being a mama and wife were more important than material items. But when the bills started stacking I realized something had to give. So, I started a business out of my home to help supplement my husband's income. Thus, Little Lovlies Boutique was born.

I love making beautiful and functional items for little ones. I love the way tutus and hair bows make little girls look so angelic. I decided to make simple designs to let mamas show off their kiddos too. I love going barefoot, but can't always so I added flip flops to my line. I also make reversible swaddle blankets, burp rags and cloth wipes (that double as washcloths). I also have a great line called upcycle. I take good condition denim and give it a new life. I am in the process of creating a boys and girls clothing line. You can check out my boutiques at www.littlelovlies.etsy.com www.littlelovlies.artfire.com and www.littlelovlies.com

I have to send a shout out to my Cafemom Street Team ladies. When you go to Etsy search cafemom team and on Artfire search CST guild. You will get some fabulous results!!Little Lovlieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17375146676204174910noreply@blogger.com0
